I have been a midwife since 2004, working as a rotational midwife for several years before becoming a labour ward co-ordinator in 2015 & more recently appointed as the FetaI Monitoring Lead within my Trust. In addition to these roles I am a Newborn Life Support instructor, providing support & training to my midwifery & medical colleagues & I instruct on our Trust obstetric emergency study day.
I was a Supervisor of Midwives until its removal from statutory in 2017, ensuring both the provision of safe, high quality maternity services and the regulation of midwifery practice. I completed investigations following concerns with midwifery practice & supporting midwives with areas of practice development and clinical support. I have an interest in risk management & have complete serious incident reviews on a regular basis. I am also an MBBRACE-UK midwife assessor, where I review the care women received in relation to existing relevant guidance and identify areas of care where improved practice in the future might prevent women’s deaths or other severe outcomes.
