Dr Karin Leslie
Karin is a Consultant in obstetrics and maternal fetal medicine. She is currently the lead for maternal medicine and governance at Ashford and St Peter’s NHS Foundation Trust. Her clinical expertise is in fetal medicine and obstetric ultrasound; complex pregnancy and obstetric medicine. She has a particular interest in hypertension in pregnancy, preeclampsia and fetal growth.
Karin qualified from the University of Glasgow 1998. She completed her specialist training in London. Karin gained her MD at the University of London in 2014 following research at St George’s University in placental disorders in pregnancy. Karin completed her maternal fetal medicine training at St George’s in 2015. She stayed on as a Consultant in Maternal Fetal medicine and lead for Obstetric HDU for four years before moving to St Peter’s Hospital in 2019.
Karin has a strong interest in developing multi-disciplinary teams and has supported staff in advanced practice roles such as non-medical prescribing. She has recently supported the implementation of a Continuity of Care model for women with complex pregnancies to improve outcomes. She teaches nationally at the RCOG and is involved locally and regionally with educational training, multi-professional fetal monitoring training and simulation. Karin has a strong interest in maternity safety, innovation and quality improvement and is the Digital obstetric lead for Surrey Heartlands.
