Following qualification in 2005, I have gained experience across all clinical settings, working in both the acute setting and a midwifery led unit. Since qualifying I have worked in two large regional centres with birth rates of up to 8,500 per annum. After relocating to the South West, I have worked as a band 6 Midwife for my current trust working in all inpatient areas, supporting the education of midwifery students and other members of the multidisciplinary team. My passion for supporting staff was the driver for my next role as a Midwifery Team lead, coordinating the maternity unit based on Central Delivery Suite.
My involvement in this role with governance process and case reviews led to me undertaking my current role of Governance Lead Midwife supporting the governance team in all aspects of investigation, liaison with external review teams and close communication with families and staff involved in review of care.
