Dr Clare Tower
Dr Tower was appointed as Consultant in Obstetrics and Fetal and Maternal Medicine in July 2011. She graduated from Leeds University having won the Masser Prize for the best performance in Medical finals. Her clinical training was in Leeds, Nottingham, London and Manchester. She secured a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Training Fellowship leading to her PhD and has published widely in books and journals. She is clinical lead for the Women’s and Children’s domain of the Manchester Academic Health Science centre.
Dr Tower co-leads specialist services for women with Rheumatological and Haematological disorders in pregnancy and has contributed to national guidelines. She also regularly acts as an expert witness.Dr Tower was appointed as Clinical Director for Obstetrics at St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester in 2014, and since 2018 has been Clinical Head of Division. St Mary’s Hospital is one of the largest maternity units in the country, caring for more than 13,000 women and babies per year across two hospital sites.
