Dr Huw Jones
I have broad clinical experience, working as a Consultant in Neonatal Medicine for 17 years at a busy Level 3 NICU with a longstanding track record for excellent clinical outcomes. I work closely with obstetric and midwifery colleagues to deliver an excellent perinatal service. I have extensive experience of neonatal transport and neurodevelopmental follow-up.
I am the local lead for the Vermont Oxford Neonatal Network, a large international collaborative network of neonatal units which reports on over 60,000 very low birth weight infants each year. We joined in 2013 and have been pleased with our excellent results against this respected benchmark.
I have been the unit lead for the National Neonatal Audit Programme since its inception. We were an early adopter unit and have shown consistently good performance against peers.
I was the Neonatal Governance Lead from 2001 to 2007 and 2016 to present. I chair a monthly NICU Governance meeting which has a strong emphasis on multi-disciplinary involvement including a parents’ representative. Our excellent clinical outcomes are often reflected in plaudits from families and we have strong links with Bliss and neonatal charities. I attend the Labour Ward Forum and have close links with the governance leads in midwifery and obstetrics. I present a summary of unit outcomes and activity at the NICU AGM.
