Dr Jonathan Frappell
Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist
Until my retirement from active clinical practice 3 years ago I was a consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for 25 years in one of the busiest hospitals in the country with 5,000 deliveries annually.
During this time I ran a number of specialist obstetric clinics for mothers with a variety of problems such as diabetes and epilepsy. I was also responsible for the ECV clinic where we attempt to ‘turn’ babies who are in the breech position. I like to think that I was considered an approachable doctor sympathetic to the concerns and wishes of the women under my care.
I have previously been involved as an assessor for the National Enquiry into Perioperative Deaths and have significant experience of conducting enquiries into concerns about gynaecological surgery in a number of hospitals around the country. Other significant responsibilities include being President of the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy 2010-12 and a Council member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists from 2010-16.
