Dr Renate Wendler
Renate works as consultant anaesthetist with special interest in obstetric and cardio-thoracic anaesthesia at a London Teaching Hospital NHS Trust and is the lead clinician for high-risk obstetric anaesthesia. She holds a postgraduate diploma for “Management in Health Institutions”.
After serving as Lead Obstetric Anaesthetist and Care Group Lead for Theatres and Decontamination, Renate worked as Associate Medical Director for Governance from 2014 -2020. In this role she was responsible for Trust wide governance including incident declaration and investigation. As a long standing member of the London Maternity Strategic Clinical Leadership Group she supported the development of the London maternity quality standards. She also was a member of the pan-London maternal morbidity and mortality group and regularly supported other London Trusts in the investigations of serious maternal morbidity or deaths for Hospital Trusts.
Renate is a scientific reviewer for the International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (BJOG), International Journal of Obstetric Anaesthesia (IJOA) and Best Practice and Research Clinical Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
