Dr Renate Wendler
Renate works as consultant anaesthetist with special interest in obstetric and cardio-thoracic anaesthesia at a London Trust and is the lead clinician for high-risk obstetric anaesthesia. She holds a postgraduate diploma for “Management in Health Institutions”.
After serving as Lead Obstetric Anaesthetist and Care Group Lead for Theatres and Decontamination Renate was appointed as Associate Medical Director for Governance in 2014. In this role she is responsible for incident declaration and investigation. As a long standing member of the London Maternity Strategic Clinical Leadership Group she supported the development of the London maternity quality standards. She is a member of the pan-London maternal morbidity and mortality group and regularly supports the investigations of serious maternal morbidity or deaths for Hospital Trusts across London.
She is a scientific reviewer for the International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (BJOG), International Journal of Obstetric Anaesthesia (IJOA) and Best Practice and Research Clinical Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
