Dr Richard Jones
Dr Richard Jones MBBS FRCP MSc is a Consultant Cardiologist at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth. Alongside his clinical interest in echocardiography he has held several clinical leadership posts including Clinical Director of Cardiology, Chief of Medicine and Clinical Director of the Wessex Cardiovascular Network. He is currently an Associate Medical Director with particular responsibility for Elective Care Transformation in the South-East Hampshire delivery system.
He has a particular interest in improving elective care services through system wide collaboration. Richard has a wealth of expertise in change management and recently led a national initiative looking at improving the heart attack pathway. Following his MSc in Medical Leadership awarded by Birkbeck College London and the Royal College of Physicians, he has developed an interest in the morale and the well-being of staff. This was informed by his dissertation written in conjunction with the Royal Navy where the maintenance of morale at sea is of such importance. He holds regular sessions on improving patient safety through raising awareness of human factors.
