Abigail Luck

Abigail has had a diverse professional career of over twenty years in both Nursing and Midwifery, with current regular practice in both disciplines. She is a qualified and experienced state level healthcare safety investigator and worked as a Maternity Investigator for the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch. During which, she developed advanced skills in interviewing, report writing, liaising, negotiating, and supporting patients, families and staff, following bereavement and serious incidents.
Abigail is the clinical lead for the first, national, weeklong healthcare investigation course at Cranfield University/Baby Lifeline and has participated in training over 300 students. She designed the investigation case simulation for this course and provides lecturing support, as well as curriculum development.
She has worked in hospital, community, and research settings, within women’s, surgical, medical, emergency, oncology, mental health, bereavement, and palliative care. She has also held senior clinical nursing and midwifery leadership roles, in addition to working overseas for four years as a Registered Midwife.
In 2021, Abigail completed accredited Expert Witness training with Cardiff University Bond Solon and has a successful practice. Abigail also works as an External Clinical Advisor for the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman and is a Maternity Specialist Advisor for the Care Quality Commission.
