Dr Helen Murphy
Dr Helen Murphy is a Consultant in Clinical Genetics. She is currently attached to the All-Wales Medical Genetics service and is a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Chester Medical School.
A graduate of University of Manchester, Helen trained in general medicine and gastroenterology before joining the speciality genetics programme at Liverpool Women’s and Alder Hey Children’s Hospitals. Helen became a consultant geneticist in Manchester in 2009, where she developed interests in neurogenetics and the genetics of deafness.
She was an active member of the Clinical Genetics Society UK Clinical Governance Committee in 2008-2010, and a peer reviewer for the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) 2012-2017. Helen has contributed to multiple research papers and clinical trials. In 2023 Helen completed a MA degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy, she is also a qualified counsellor.
