Josie Dodgson

My name is Josie Dodgson and I live in Cornwall with my husband and 3 children. I have worked within the care setting since 1997.  The progression of my career in health care has developed over 20 years. Firstly, as a health care assistant, followed by nursing and eventually to Midwifery, where my passion lies.

My career in Midwifery has evolved over time and I have been part of many changes and attempts to improve maternity services within my roles. It saddens me to know that improvements have not always been made despite the repeated themes that have emerged. As the intrapartum Matron and a patient safety lead, continuous improvement in patient care by promoting compassionate and inclusive leadership is imperative in achieving better outcomes in maternity care and improved patient experience. This is something I am extremely passionate about and feel is a great strength of mine. My humble approach to leadership has been highlighted to me by others I work with, and I feel this natural ability to lead has led me to earn the respect from the whole team around me.

I am extremely grateful to have been recommended to be part of the team and it is a privilege to be able to use my experience and knowledge to support the rest of the investigation team, in order for the families voices to be heard.
