Alexandra Phillips

With 30 years’ experience as a neonatal intensive care nurse Alex is currently the lead nurse of the neonatal unit at Evelina London Children’s Hospital based at Guy’s & St. Thomas Hospital.

With previous experience as a matron and completion of a Master’s degree in Health Management she became the lead nurse and is now more involved in strategic planning for the development of the service.

Overseeing a large nursing team she is involved in workforce planning alongside the educational development and training needs to ensure the team obtain the specialist clinical skills required.

Alexandra  recognises the importance of promoting a good work life balance for the nursing team through effective rostering and compassionate leadership, aiming to support a team working in a busy  and demanding environment.

Supporting the implementation of Family Integrated Care within the unit is a current goal, as Alexandra  recognises the importance of promoting parents as the primary care provider in partnership with the clinical team.
