Dr Austin Ugwumadu
Austin is currently Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, & Clinical Director of Women’s Services at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in London. He has special clinical & research interest in the fields of intrapartum fetal monitoring and fetal brain injury, and belongs to International bodies dedicated to improving intrapartum fetal monitoring including the FIGO Expert Group on Fetal Monitoring, Fetal & Neonatal Physiological Society, Fetal Signal Processing & Monitoring Group.
For 10 years Austin was Scientific Editor for British Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Infectious Diseases in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Global Library of Women’s Health (Infections Section), & ex-President of the European Society for Infectious Diseases in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. Austin has a medico-legal practice, which is focused on intrapartum care and fetal monitoring and has undertaken commissioned reviews of adverse perinatal outcomes and incidents in maternity units in the United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland.
