Dr David Gibson
I am a consultant paediatrician working solely in neonates at Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield since 2010 and have been clinical lead for neonates since appointment.
Pinderfields is the largest local neonatal unit in Yorkshire, supporting approximately 6,250 deliveries a year. As a result, I have had a great deal of experience in neonatal work at district general hospital level. As a part of this, I have led many local hospital investigations into significant events within our hospital Trust and have a strong understanding and experience of governance issues and the need for thorough and transparent investigation.
I originally come from Northern Ireland but, despite leaving there in 1988 for university and only returning on holiday, have never lost my accent or roots. Outside work, I enjoy skiing, dog walking and family time. I have twin daughters just turned 17 who, coincidently, were born prematurely at 28 weeks.
