Between 2010 and 2013 she was seconded to the Consultant Practitioner Training programme within the region which gave her the opportunity to work in Southampton and Oxford as well as complete a Master’s degree. After a further year’s secondment to Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Consultant Midwife Christine returned to Reading and took up the post of Consultant Midwife in 2016. Christine is newly appointed as Director of Midwifery.

Christine’s particular area of interest and expertise is in fetal monitoring and Intelligent Intermittent Auscultation in particular. Alongside her colleague Wendy Randall Christine devised an innovative teaching and assessment tool for Intelligent Intermittent Auscultation within the E-learning for Health platform. This programme is award winning and is used by midwives nationally and internationally to improve their skills and therefore  improve the safety of mothers and babies in low risk labours.
