Claire McKellow

I have been a qualified Midwife for 18 years and currently in the role of course leader and senior lecturer at Kingston University, which I started in 2016. I take responsibility for oversight of all undergraduate and postgraduate midwifery programmes. This role gives me the opportunity to ensure that our curriculums meet the needs of both university qualification, safe service provision and the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council, whilst ensuring students have a positive learning journey. I have worked in numerous clinical settings and roles that includes being a rotational midwife, opening a birth centre, labour ward shift coordinator, practice development midwife and clinical governance lead. Within my experience in these roles, I have supported clinical investigations and quality improvement strategies. I am also a Professional Midwifery Advocate to support both students and staff.
