Dr Amanda Freeman

Amanda is a recently retired Consultant Paediatrician having worked for 22 years at a big busy District General Hospital in Portsmouth before moving to a more senior leadership position at Southampton Children’s Hospital.

She set up one of the first district-based children’s epilepsy services in England and has always been passionate about delivering high quality, patient centred care. She became a founder member and then chair of the Wessex Paediatric Neurosciences Network undertaking patient safety and quality improvement projects to ensure excellence and equity of care across the region.

She has worked with NICE both in guideline development and topic selection in addition to supporting a national audit led by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.

Amanda has a long-standing interest in medical ethics, having been chair of her Hospital’s Clinical Ethics Committee for 5 years and has also trained as a mediator.
