Dr Sarah Winfield

Sarah is the Regional Lead Obstetrician for the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber and, with the regional maternity team, oversees implementation of the National maternity safety agenda, including supporting and advising units regarding the actions from the 2022 Ockenden report recommendations.

She has been a Consultant Obstetrician for 14 years and has an interest in Maternal Medicine. She works at the Mid-Yorkshire NHS Foundation Trust as their lead for Maternal Medicine and this is a busy unit with 6000 deliveries a year. She oversees care for medically complex pregnancies in clinic and when on-call on labour ward.

Prior to this, Sarah worked at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust to help develop their tertiary maternal medicine service by building clinics for women with renal and cardiac disease. She participated in the diabetes service and undertook clinics for women requiring pre-pregnancy counselling and postnatal debriefing after baby loss and birth trauma.
