Julie Smith

Julie is a midwife with over 20 years of clinical experience in a busy London NHS Trust. She specialised in high-risk antenatal care, looking after women and families who had pregnancies which were complicated by a range of conditions. Julie is a non-medical prescriber.  She is qualified to undertake growth scans. She set up and ran a midwifery led hypertension clinic caring for women with hypertension and preeclampsia. Since June 2021 Julie has been working as a senior lecturer in midwifery, shaping the next generation of midwives to care for women appropriately and professionally. She supports the students in the university and on the shop floor through her role as link lecturer. Julie has an honorary contract at the trust where she worked and keeps her skills up to date through ongoing clinical work.
