Patrick Desmonde

Patrick has been a neonatal nurse for 32 years.

He has extensive experience in the field of neonatal nursing in the UK and abroad having worked in the USA, Australia and Saudi Arabia.  He qualified as a nurse in 1988 and a midwife in 1994 and an ANNP in 2010.  All of his experience has been in tertiary centres as well as working as part of the London Neonatal Transport Team as part of his career.

Patrick is currently a matron on the neonatal unit at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital.  He is passionate about the safe delivery of high standards of care. He leads on recruitment and retention and one of his goals is to achieve 1:1 care for all babies in NICU at the Evelina London and improve the family experience of neonatal care; empowering parents and families to be full partners in care.
