Vanessa Sturt
Vanessa is an experienced neonatal nurse with over 20 years in neonatal intensive care, inspired by the team who cared for her own preterm babies. Since qualifying as an Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (ANNP) in 2013, she has worked across maternity and neonatal services in both clinical and leadership roles. Her expertise spans clinical excellence, education, research, and service development.
She holds an MSc in Advanced Practice and is a certified Newborn Life Support (NLS) instructor. Vanessa has led quality improvement projects, developed advanced practice pathways, and contributed to national neonatal policies and frameworks.
As Clinical Lead for Transitional Care (TC), she has implemented initiatives to improve patient outcomes and enhance family experience. A passionate advocate for family-integrated care, Vanessa presents her work nationally and internationally.
She currently chairs the ANNP Network and TC Forum, championing safe, high-quality neonatal care and supporting families through the most critical stages of their journey.
