Filming and engagement with the families

This month, as part of our continued engagement with all Nottingham communities, we completed a series of videos in 7 different languages with Trent FPSS help. Using these videos, women and communities will be able to access advice on how to refer to psycho-logical support and what maternity benefits they are entitled to. We expect to have the videos ready to distribute in the next 3 weeks. Many thanks to the local organisations and women who gave up their time to translate the scripts and came to be filmed. The videos will be available on our website and to community groups to use across their net-work.

How is the review engaging with the community?

On the same day that the filming took place, Donna met with a group of Roma women via Ideea Rom, a fantastic local group dedicated to supporting women from the Roma community in Nottingham. As a review team we promise to do all we can to ensure that every woman’s voice is heard, and that her language and cultural requirements are sup-ported. If you are from a group that we have not yet spoken to, please get in contact with us, we would love to find out more!

Donna has also recently met with the local Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire MP’s to dis-cuss the progress of the review. Your local MP’s are such an important part of Notting-hamshire communities, so please do also look to them as potential points of contact. You can find your local MP, if you do not know them already, on https://members.parliament.uk/FindYourMP

Learning and improvement with the trust

In order to ensure that continuous learning and improvement of maternity services at the Trust happens during the course of the Review, Donna has been meeting regularly with Anthony May, the CEO of the Trust. He confirms at each meeting that he is commit-ted to improving the Trusts maternity care. Donna is very pleased with progress but has said that in order to ensure that these changes are meaningful and long lasting that en-acting this change will be “a marathon, rather than a sprint”.

A few reminders…
