I joined the midwifery department at Kingston & St George’s University, as a Senior Midwifery Lecturer in May 2018. I initially trained as a nurse in 1985. After qualifying in 1988, I worked as a staff nurse in Paediatrics and a Neonatal unit before training as a Midwife, qualifying in 1990. Since qualifying I have had various midwifery roles within the NHS, as well as working as a nurse advisor for a private medical company. My NHS roles have included rotational clinical posts, delivery suite, antenatal and postnatal ward coordinator, as well as working in the high-risk midwifery team. I then worked as Practice Development Midwife with a responsibility for ongoing mandatory training of qualified staff and Healthcare assistants, midwifery recruitment and support for newly qualified staff. More recent qualifications include an MSc in Healthcare Education and Clinical Leadership and Fellowship of the HEA (FHEA).
