Kirsty Barclay

As a midwife Kirsty developed strong, effective communication and problem-solving skills to meet the needs of the women and families she was caring for, in a variety of settings. As she progressed through her career, she found a passion for supporting and teaching students, leading her to take the role of the clinical link midwife for universities and the Trust she was working in. This improved Kirsty’s understanding of the wider context of midwifery education, developing her interest further, which is when she commenced her MSc in Advanced Practice which enhanced her leadership knowledge and research skills.

Whilst undertaking her Masters, Kirsty transitioned into higher education teaching as a lecturer, which enabled her to continue developing her skills and knowledge in higher education. On completion of the second year of her masters, she became a HEA fellow, which advanced her teaching skills and knowledge.
