Leeds family meeting
On Saturday 26th September, the Independent Review of Maternity and Neonatal Services at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust will hold its second family meeting in Leeds.
What is the Review?
The Review was established in light of significant concerns raised regarding the quality and safety of maternity and neonatal services at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT) and concerns of local families.
Donna Ockenden was appointed Chair of the Review on 10th March 2026.
What is the family meeting for?
Families affected by their maternity and neonatal care failings in Leeds are invited to attend a meeting with Donna Ockenden and some of the Review team on Saturday 26 September 2026.
This meeting will provide families with an opportunity to:
– meet the Review Team
– learn more about what an Ockenden Independent Review involves
– understand how families can take part if they choose to
– ask questions about the process and next stages of the Review
– have their voices heard which will crucially contribute to the Review Team sharing feedback with the Trust at future Learning and Improvement Meetings.
Learning and Improvement meetings are meetings that take place bi-monthly between the Chair of the Review, representatives from the Trust and representatives from NHSE. The meetings will provide an opportunity for the Chair of the Review to raise concerns with the Trust, and the Trust to take away these learnings and implement improvements which they must evidence at the next meeting.

The event is open to all families who have experienced harm as a result of maternity care failings in Leeds.

Schedule:
• 10:00 -12:00 – Morning session
• 13:00 – 15:00 – Afternoon session
Two identical sessions to be held in the morning and afternoon to provide flexibility for families. A crèche will also be provided.
