Dear Families,

We appreciate that what has happened to you is deeply personal, and that taking part in this Ockenden Review of maternity and neonatal services delivered by Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT) will mean revisiting extremely painful experiences.

We are very grateful to every family who feels able to come forward and participate. Your experiences must be heard and understood. Listening carefully to families will be central to this Review, and your voices are vital in helping us understand the harm that has occurred and what must change.

Donna Ockenden and her review team would like to invite you to attend a family engagement meeting in Leeds on 18 July 2026. This will be the first of many opportunities to meet Donna and the team.

This meeting is an opportunity for families to:

• Help shape and finalise the Terms of Reference
• Understand what an Ockenden Review means
• Hear how we will engage with families throughout the process
• Share views and ask questions

The draft Terms of Reference will set out what the Review can examine, the time period it will cover and how it will be carried out. They are in draft form and we are keen to hear your views.

This meeting is therefore an important step in making sure families are fully involved in shaping the Review from the outset, so that your experiences and priorities are reflected in the Terms of Reference.

We are here to listen, and to make sure your voices are heard and acted upon as the Review progresses.

Venue: Park Plaza Hotel, Leeds

(Boar Ln, City Square, Leeds LS1 5NS)

Schedule:

• 10:00-12:00: First session
• 12:00-13:00: Lunch (provided)
• 13:00-15:00: Second session
• 15:00: Close

The first and second sessions will cover the same content.

Families are welcome to attend either session or stay for the full day, depending on what is best for you. Please email: leedsreview@donnaockenden.com to confirm your attendance.

Support for families:

The following arrangements will be in place for the meeting:

• Crèche facilities will be available, please email leedsreview@donnaockenden.com to book a space
• Charities will be invited to attend, to offer support and guidance across areas relevant to the Terms of Reference.
• Opportunities for both group discussion and more private conversations.
